HNC ACTING AND PERFORMANCE

HNC Acting and Performance course focuses primarily on the practical and theoretical skills of a modern performer through classes and workshops, which include acting, voice, movement, devising theatre, acting for camera, text and performance and methods and practitioners.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Entry to the HNC Acting and Performance course is by audition only. This will enable our panel to judge a realistic assessment of your suitability for the qualification and requirements for the course. You will be asked to perform two contrasting monologues to a panel, there will a short interview and you may be asked to take part in a workshop.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Higher English and/or Higher Drama are recommended but not essential. Previous performance experience is preferred but not essential to access this programme and applications are welcome from candidates of all levels.

SPECIFICS OF STUDY

The HNC Acting and Performance course focuses primarily on the practical and theoretical skills of a modern performer through classes and workshops, which include acting, voice, movement, devising theatre, acting for camera, text and performance and methods and practitioners. Students will be given the chance to take part in industry-led workshops and classes, as part of their training, to gain knowledge and experience of current trends in the profession. All the lecturers on the acting courses are highly trained, with years of industry experience. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in professional theatre productions.

FUNDING

You are eligible, as a student of Theatre College of Scotland, to apply for a student loan that will cover most of your course fees. Eligible students will also receive a payment towards your course fees from SAAS (Student Awards Agency Scotland).

This amount is currently set at £1205.00. (The balance of fees therefore to be paid monthly via Student Loan or Personal Contribution)

​

Many students pay for their course fees via student loans together with a small personal contribution, made payable through part time work or private means and paid monthly.

COURSE FEES

Fees for our college course in 2025/2026 are £8619.00 per year. Fees are paid in the following breakdown:

Non-Refundable Deposit – £500.00 

(Upon acceptance)

SAAS contribution – £1205.00

​

The balance is paid by the student via Student Loan or Personal means as follows:

September payment – £1240.00
8 x Monthly payment (Oct – May) – £709.25

SAAS

Most Scottish and European applicants will qualify for SAAS funding of £1,205 per year, and will be able to apply for SLC Loans, please visit SAAS website for more information.

Applicants from England do not qualify for funding through SAAS or SLC.
